World Tour - Surreal

World Tour have come down from the snowy peaks with something golden. Ever since I first listened to some World Tour demos almost three years ago I knew I’d never stop pining for more. Over a year since their last single ‘Forever Tonight’, the Swedish three-piece is back with a lush pop gem, ‘Surreal’—and it is just that; the dark winter sky, brimming with stars, falling down. I can feel it.

Yumi Zouma - The Brae

image

Christchurch/Paris/New York-based band Yumi Zouma released their debut EP yesterday on Cascine. Four tracks deep, the first glimpse from the three Kiwis has been on repeat all day. They craft the sort of infectiously smooth pop gems that stretch the days and melt the snow outside. Listen to the whole release and Wild Nothing’s remix of ‘A Long Walk Home For Parted Lovers’ below.

Selebrities - Born Killers (Spanish Version)

Brooklyn-based four-piece Selebrities are back with their second full-length Lovely Things, following up 2011’s Delusions. The wonderfully romantic, 80s-infused album is out now on Cascine. Today, Selebrities released an alternate version of their track ‘Born Killers’ off the LP. The band’s vocalist Maria Usbeck goes back to her Ecuadorian roots— delivering a swoon-worthy, spanish new wave ballad b-side.

Ditt Inre - Inget Val

This evening, after gadding about a shadowed forest, I found myself on top of a steep mountain. The sun had slipped behind the fading peaks that lined horizon.

Stockholm’s Ditt Inre brings back something familiar, something that we haven’t seen in a while. The first time I heard from these swedes I was watching a night pass in front of a crackling fire— spring was on its way, winter its way out.

Tonight the first flakes fell. My hill overlooking Granada became just another snowcapped point pinned to the falling fog. Look forward to Cascine's final release of the year. Ditt Inre's Inget Val / Din Röst arrives December 11th and it effortless welcomes winter home.

Southern Shores - New Love

From an old favorite comes a new love.

Paradise-pop duo Southern Shores have returned with a new release to follow up last year’s Atlantic EP, a steadfast summer soundtrack in these parts. Halifax’s Jamie Townsend and Ben Dalton produce highly transportive perfection; their songs capture a moment that you wish would linger for hours— just when the sun meets the horizon and the cerulean sky begins to melt into an enveloping mauve. Southern Shores’ forthcoming EP New World, picks up just where their Atlantic EP left off. So sultry, so hot, each of the release’s seven tracks burn like that undying bonfire at the center of those moonlit, seaside dance parties. Aw yeah, you know the ones I’m talking about. New World arrives on Cascine October 2nd, just in time to relive your summer nights. Listen to ‘New Love,’ a single off the EP, below.

World Tour - Forever Tonight

World Tour, the Swedish trio that crafted a most luscious EP which was released by Cascine earlier this year, is at it yet again. From a small village in northwestern Sweden, they bring us our latest indulgence. ‘Forever Tonight’ begins in a deep cavern, echoing a beclouded call from below— however, it soon opens up and spills out and into a heartfelt tune laced with ethereal melodies paired with a sort of transporting yet tangible simplicity of which World Tour is so familiar. ‘Forever Tonight’ will be released on Swedish label Emotion.

Ditt Inre - Månljus (saknad)

Stockholm’s Einar Andersson & Hampus Klint have emerged together as Ditt Inre under the veil of their sultry six-track EP, En Värld I Brand. The release will see the light of day May 29 on the ever-indulging bearer of good news, Cascine. The duo crafts a dreamy dance pop which at first gleams with sun-soaked ambivalence, but, at its depths, thoroughly realizes a steeping sensitivity.

The boats rocks as wind simmers the sails. The stars bob endlessly above. A haze rises like cool mist after a nighttime rain— the dark pavement warm still; the soft brume brims with the transient reverie of day.

World Tour - Believe

lyssna.

It’s been over a year of waiting. Last January, Cascine gave us our first glimpse of Swedish dream pop trio World Tour with their single Sparks. I was dying for more. I scoured the interwebs. I unearthed some old relics—from the time before WT—when they were a duo called I Always Wanted A Pony (I just checked their old soundcloud page and they’ve recently upload two dance-oriented tracks under their old name). World Tour came back in October with a beautiful Karl X Johan cover.

Winter came quickly. World Tour waited. Indulged by demos, I thought I knew what was coming. They mixed. They mastered. Now they’re set to deliver a four-track set of songs. World Tour’s Believe EP is out April 10th on Cascine— the stork of all sonic goodness. Each track an expansive dreamscape, the EP brims with memories of luscious summer wanderings watching the sun slip back, beyond the hills. This EP belongs in the woods on clear night where stars shine on, trickling down. Supple melodies and hushed romances are sprinkled throughout, their texts faded by the sun— yellow pages curled and crinkled. Listen to Believe.

Wintercoats - Forest of Lovers (Southern Shores Remix)

Halifax’s Southern Shores, a duo whose Atlantic EP captured my summer’s essence, is back with an end of the year gift in the form of a beautiful remix of Melbourne’s Wintercoats. Already immaculate, James Wallace’s ‘Forest of Lovers’, off his Sketches EP, gets a tropical rerub courtesy of his Canadian labelmates over at Cascine. The label had a awesome year, but next year looks promising with new releases in the works from both Southern Shores and Wintercoats as well as the debut EP from Swedish trio World Tour which drops next month. Download Southern Shores’ remix below.

Video • Southern Shores - Meridian

When I listen to Southern Shores’ Atlantic, I can’t imagine the music flowing from someone’s fingertips— it seems to flow from the sun, drift in from sea. At the beginning of the summer, Jamie Townsend and Ben Dalton played their first ever live show in their hometown of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Based on Andrew Hines’ video from that night, I must find a way to one of those show. Supremely sultry and sweaty, these tropical blissfests burn long into the night— night is young.

I Always Wanted a Pony - In a Year Or Two (Demo)

I Always Wanted A Pony is the electronic pop project of Felix Hedberg and Tobias Gerhardsson from Östersund, Sweden. Although they haven’t released anything in months, I’ve just today stumbled across their soundcloud and I’ve been pumping their two demos all day. I’m hoping to hear more from these two swedes.

World Tour - Sparks

“We would like to show you some pictures, a few notes and some visions. ‘Sparks’ is a story about dreaming, defying death and fighting the darkness. About the belief of beginning something new and a reliance on your origin.”    - World Tour
