Amadou & Mariam released their fifth record Welcome To Mali back in 2008 and two years on it’s still among my favorites. Stockholm’s Miike Snow has crafted a brilliant remix of the album’s opening track, Sabali. The remix will be the final tune on Amadou & Mariam’s upcoming remix album which is due out on Nonesuch/Because on December 20th (January release in the US). The fourteen-track album features remixes of songs from Welcome To Mali and Dimanche à Bamako. This comes to me at the perfect time— Remixes will deliver the warmth of Bamako even as I slip into the depths of winter. Miike Snow, Theophilus London, Akon, Yuksek and Vitalic are among a host of artists contributing to the album. Check out the full track list here.
