Postiljonen - På väg tillsammans

Stockholm’s Daniel Sjörs, Joel Nyström, and Holm Mia Bøe have been working together for the past few months, releasing a host of stellar ambient electronic tracks as the trio Postiljonen (postman). Their music combines experimental, world, ambient and dance music to create what they describe as ‘heartbreaking electronica.’ Check out Postiljonen and friends mucking about and showing off their footy skillz in the swedish countryside in the video for ‘På väg tillsammans’ above. Take a gander at all their songs over at Postiljonen’s soundcloud or tumblr

Young Eagle - No One Is Holy Without Suffering

The eagle transcends altitudes of 10,000 feet.
His golden plumage breaks through the clouds
and he escapes the bounds of this green earth.
While some might say he flies too high, like Icarus,
we believe that one day, we will all transcend,
and have our youth renewed like the eagle’s.

Yesterday The Apiary released a two-track EP from swedish artist Jesper Merrild aka Young Eagle. Earlier this year I came across Jesper’s covers of The Tough Alliance and jj as well as a wee pop gem from back in the day. Young Eagle’s debut release No One Is Holy Without Suffering goes just where I’d been hoping it would; it has the jj-esque balearic feel paired with a darker, sultry, rain-drenched Gotëburg mystique. Ära.

Korallreven - The Final Fantasy

Swedish duo Korallreven just released a glorious new take on their jam ‘As Young As Yesterday.’ A drawn out affair, the seven-minute tune builds from ethereal whispers and grows into the soundtrack of one of those moonlit balearic nights. Check out the rendition, entitled ‘The Final Fantasy,’ below. Snag An Album By Korallreven over yonder.

ceo - Illuminata (D. Lissvik Remix)

Sincerely Yours‘ Eric Berglund recently released his White Magic Epilogue— a trio of remixes off his album from last year. Balearic bliss, baby •

‘in times when people do whatever necessary to become part of something they are not, a family affair feels extra rad.’

Klassfest - Nya Ovänner

Jesper Merrild (aka Young Eagle/⨊xCUSEƑILIPPA/L/J) just sent over this little pop gem from an old project with his friend Ludvig back when they were both living in their small hometown in central Sweden. This song comes from another time, years ago, when Nesta lived in Rome, back before Jesper was crafting electro jamz and remixing jj and The Tough Alliance— from “the golden days, when we were winning.”

jj - die tonight (young eagle version)

Aquilotto rise from the depths of Rome.
From the blue waters to the white skies.

Sounds will lift up from down below.
The present will take shape in it’s purest form.

The Embassy - Puttgarden

Swedes Fredrik Lindson and Torbjörn Håkansson (aka The Embassy) hadn’t released anything since their second full-length Tacking from back in 2005, so their new single and the news that they are set to release a new album on September 27th on Service come straight out of nowhere.  Life in the Trenches: The Other Side of 2001-2011 will include mainly unreleased songs and B-sides dating back to the band’s beginnings. But the duo isn’t just going to release some old tracks and recede back into the depths of another mysterious hiatus; they’ve announced plans for a LP of entirely new material that will drop sometime this winter. Check out an instrumental single off next month’s release entitled ‘Puttgarden’.

jj - YOU DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH IT WOULD HURT ME IF YOU SAID THAT YOU WERE IN LOVE WITH ME

The most gangster of swedish duos, jj, just posted up a new incredibly long-titled single to their blog. Check out ‘YOU DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH IT WOULD HURT ME IF YOU SAID THAT YOU WERE IN LOVE WITH ME’ below. The song appears to be a rather strange single off an upcoming release of some sort, perhaps off this summer’s most elusive (non)release— jj nº4…

I Always Wanted a Pony - In a Year Or Two (Demo)

I Always Wanted A Pony is the electronic pop project of Felix Hedberg and Tobias Gerhardsson from Östersund, Sweden. Although they haven’t released anything in months, I’ve just today stumbled across their soundcloud and I’ve been pumping their two demos all day. I’m hoping to hear more from these two swedes.

UPDATE: I Always Wanted A Pony has transformed into the Cascine-signed group World Tour. They’re releasing an EP in October! Check out their single ‘Sparks’ below.

World Tour - Sparks

“We would like to show you some pictures, a few notes and some visions. ‘Sparks’ is a story about dreaming, defying death and fighting the darkness. About the belief of beginning something new and a reliance on your origin.”    - World Tour

Karibien - Stockholm

‘Stockholm’ is the very first demo from the somewhat mysterious Swedish band Karibien. If you’re looking for more on this song, all I know is that it’s as laid-back as they come. I can’t wait to see what Karibien comes up with next…
