At the beginning of June, Canadian producer Germany Germany (Drew Harris) and California’s Steffaloo (Steph Thompson) teamed up for a little side project called Toy Camera.  Steph’s beautiful vocals soar about Germany Germany’s hopscotching beats on their first single ‘Tall Trees.’ You can download the tune over at their bandcamp. Also, on August 16th Steffaloo has an awesome 7” coming out on JAXART records. Check out the B-side ‘The Red Runs Free,’ which features Lance Smith aka Pandit, below.

Billy Comfort’s newest track ‘Wonder of We’ brings summer’s rays just a step closer with it’s chopped and chilled out bouncing beats. Melting away winter’s grip, the always wonderful Steffaloo is also on track delivering airy, sun-streaked vocals. I can’t wait to see what else señor Comfort has up his sleeve.

Canadian producer and emcee Emay dropped his new eight-track EP Mind Altering Dynamics earlier today. His creative approach to hip hop and immense lyrical ability are definitely on show with this one as he pushes beyond his previous releases. His remix of Blackbird Blackbird’s ‘Ups & Downs’ (off BB’s Summer Heart) really sticks out of the bunch. Not only does Emay build off of Mikey’s summery jam, but he also got LA’s Steffaloo (Steph Thompson) to record some beautiful backing vocals for the track. It’s no surprise that San Fransisco’s Blackbird Blackbird is back with yet another tantalizing track. You may remember a few weeks ago “Mr. Prolific” released a song, ‘Starlight,’ with the wonderful vocals of Steffaloo (Steph Thompson, Tim from smokedontsmoke’s sister). Well they’ve come together once again, this time crafting a beautiful four-minute dreamscape— ‘Fly.’ Steph’s vocals may not be the only thing you recognize on this one, it’s actually a reworked version of ‘Fade to White (feat. Emily Reo)’ off Mikey’s Modern Disbelief EP from last month. This one’s fresh off the presses, check it out!
