San Fransisco-based electronic artist Blackbird Blackbird (aka Mikey Sanders) just sent over his latest tune, a single off his upcoming release Passions. Check out the cut, also called Passions, below or at Mikey’s bandcamp. Also he’s running an album artwork contest for the new album— the deets are right over here. Mikey premiered some new tracks off the upcoming album via turntable.fm last week and it must be noted that they are of the most baller variety— can’t wait for this one to drop.

Canadian producer and emcee Emay dropped his new eight-track EP Mind Altering Dynamics earlier today. His creative approach to hip hop and immense lyrical ability are definitely on show with this one as he pushes beyond his previous releases. His remix of Blackbird Blackbird’s ‘Ups & Downs’ (off BB’s Summer Heart) really sticks out of the bunch. Not only does Emay build off of Mikey’s summery jam, but he also got LA’s Steffaloo (Steph Thompson) to record some beautiful backing vocals for the track. Blackbird Blackbird just finished up an awesome remix of Beach House’s wintry single ‘I Do Not Care for the Winter Sun.’ It’s a beautiful song to start off with, but Mikey really took the tune in a completely different direction, tossing some summery fervor in with the winter melancholy.

Other happenings in the BB world: He’s releasing his album Summer Heart physically on March second on Art Union/Plancha. Also, Teenage Reverb has released his second remix of ‘Hawaii,’ and this one will feature on the upcoming remix album.

A few days ago Mikey from Blackbird Blackbird was still looking for a few more remixes of his song Hawaii off Summer Heart for an upcoming remix album, so I wasn’t really that surprised to hear a new, awesome retouching of the tune from Ann Arbor’s Macklin Underdown this morning. I can’t wait to hear all the remixes.

This week’s mix kicks off with one of my favorite new bands, LA’s Kisses, except this time they’re remixed by Active Child. Generationals follow suit with a splendid track off their upcoming Trust EP. Once again, Blackbird Blackbird is in on the action; here’s a tune off his Seeing Suge collab with Emay and Star Slinger—grab their first single “Breaking” here. At the beginning of the year I was really into Australian electropop duo Empire Of The Sun. They’re probably the most remixed group of the past few months but I still enjoy Andre Anjos’ recently finished remix of Walking On A Dream. Baltimore’s Rapdragons and Moss of Aura join up and drop it like it’s hot with a sweet remix of She Got Me. Next up is a tune off Ocean Age’s Forest, entitled Hopscotch. Is Tropical, Brazil’s DJ Dolores and Mexico’s Piyama Party (with Pipe Llorens) round out this week’s mix. Enjoy!

It’s no surprise that San Fransisco’s Blackbird Blackbird is back with yet another tantalizing track. You may remember a few weeks ago “Mr. Prolific” released a song, ‘Starlight,’ with the wonderful vocals of Steffaloo (Steph Thompson, Tim from smokedontsmoke’s sister). Well they’ve come together once again, this time crafting a beautiful four-minute dreamscape— ‘Fly.’ Steph’s vocals may not be the only thing you recognize on this one, it’s actually a reworked version of ‘Fade to White (feat. Emily Reo)’ off Mikey’s Modern Disbelief EP from last month. This one’s fresh off the presses, check it out!
