Two Door Cinema Club - ‘Hands Off My Cash, Monty’

two door cinema club

Bangor indie rock trio Two Door Cinema Club are offering up one of their early demos, the brilliantly titled ‘Hands Off My Cash, Monty’, for the low price of an email address on their website.  Although this energetic little track didn’t make it onto the band’s debut album Tourist History, they often play it live. Speaking of live shows, if you haven’t already picked up tickets to their fall US tour you should definitely check that out (I know I have). Also you can grab a great snippet from a documentary about the band, which will be released with the deluxe edition of Tourist History (September 13th), with the mp3. Click below to get your hands on the track.

MondayMix: Cool down

¿Que onda? After a week that flew by, at least for me, one filed with traveling, rolling hills, and heat, let’s hope that next week will be a bit cooler— perhaps even brisk. Alright, so here we are, let’s kick things off with two fresh tracks from Kentucky’s The Pass, of their album Colors and from Ra Ra Riot’s The Rhumb Line. Next a sweet Kings of Convenience mix by Norwegian house legend, the late Tore Andreas “Erot” Kroknes. Also, I came across a remix of Tunng’s Hustle, which we featured a few weeks back. There’s some more London flair to follow, we’ve got a great collaboration between Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine from the 2010 Brit Awards. Yet the British-ness of this mix isn’t quite over— the Manchester-Bangor connection awaits, Oasis and a personal favourite of mine, Two Door Cinema Club, mashes up wonderfully.

Swedish electronic maestro Pao Pao (aka Fredrick Carlsson) is making quite a name for himself, even outside of his homeland, with his creative and experimental flavor. Get your hands on Pao Pao’s Dörr EP, for zero cashmoney, here. We’ve featured Reykjavík’s four-piece electro-pop quartet FM Belfast before, but this time they’re back with their usual tight beats and catchy lyrics— “We are running down the street in our underwear.” Toro Y Moi gets his hands on Beach House’s Master Of None, and the results are brilliant, and more upbeat. Rounding out this humble mix is a new favorite of mine, Banana Phonetic. The band from Boston came out with their The Western End EP at the beginning of the year and you can pick that high quality .zip file up fo free at their website.

The Pass - Crosswalk Stereo

Tunng - Hustle (Cillo Remix)

You Got The Dirtee Love
FM Belfast - Underwear
Oasis + Two Door Cinema Club - Wonderwall You Know
Pao Pao - Liberia (feat. Prizes)

Erot vs Kings Of Convenience - Gold For The Price Of Silver
Toro Y Moi - Master Of None
Ra Ra Riot - Oh, La
Banana Phonetic - Synchronous Orbit Acheived

MondayMix: El Tres de Mayo

I don’t know if I should, but I feel like summer is nearly upon us. The mercury is slowly creeping up when our backs are turned so I’ve responded with a few pacy, energetic selection of songs to kick off the week (and the summery weather). We’ve got a song from Brazilian singer Vanessa da Mata and a classy b-side off Two Door Cinema Club’s  ”I Can Talk” single release (and apparently the Japanese version of “Tourist History” as well). I also came across a tight Lupe Fiasco/Empire Of The Sun mash-up from Ha! Yes and another Phoenix remix courtesy of Alex Metric. Add in a track from Chilean hip-hop maestro Latin Bitman’s “Colour,” a couple remixes including Spain’s La Bien Querida and Passion Pit, a catchy tune off Kitsuné Maison #9 and a new song from Tokyo Police Club’s “Champ” and you have this week’s mix. Check it!

Vanessa da Mata - ‘Não Me Deixe Só’ (buy)

Two Door Cinema Club - ‘Costume Party’ (Free at twodoorcinemaclub.com)

Lupe Fiasco vs. Empire of the Sun - ‘Dream of a Superstar (Ha! Yes)’
