MondayMix: El Tres de Mayo

I don’t know if I should, but I feel like summer is nearly upon us. The mercury is slowly creeping up when our backs are turned so I’ve responded with a few pacy, energetic selection of songs to kick off the week (and the summery weather). We’ve got a song from Brazilian singer Vanessa da Mata and a classy b-side off Two Door Cinema Club’s  ”I Can Talk” single release (and apparently the Japanese version of “Tourist History” as well). I also came across a tight Lupe Fiasco/Empire Of The Sun mash-up from Ha! Yes and another Phoenix remix courtesy of Alex Metric. Add in a track from Chilean hip-hop maestro Latin Bitman’s “Colour,” a couple remixes including Spain’s La Bien Querida and Passion Pit, a catchy tune off Kitsuné Maison #9 and a new song from Tokyo Police Club’s “Champ” and you have this week’s mix. Check it!

Vanessa da Mata - ‘Não Me Deixe Só’ (buy)

Two Door Cinema Club - ‘Costume Party’ (Free at twodoorcinemaclub.com)

Lupe Fiasco vs. Empire of the Sun - ‘Dream of a Superstar (Ha! Yes)’

La Bien Querida - ‘9.6 (Guille Milkyway Remix)’ (buy)

Phoenix - ‘Lisztomania (Alex Metric Remix)’

MondayMix: Let’s kick this off right!

Here’s a new addition to Escucharemos, MondayMix. Simply put, it’s a group of songs that have been playing over and over in my head throughout the past week. This week’s mix is predominantly remixes (a few of The Twelves’) and songs that get me ready for the upcoming week; they’re catchy, energetic, pacy and driven. There’s some Office Musik, Manu Chao, Bob Marley, Empire Of The Sun and Two Door Cinema Club (among others).

MondayMix (5 Abril 2010)

Phoenix, Peter, Bjorn And Victoria - ‘One Thousand Nine Hundred And One Folks (Immuzikation Blend)

Bob Marley vs. MGMT - ‘I Wanna Know Now (Kids Remix)’

Manu Chao - ‘Bongo Bong’

Ellie Goulding - ‘Starry Eyed (Penguin Prison Remix ft. Theophilus London)’

Empire Of The Sun | Walking On A Dream (mp3)

Australian electronic duo Empire Of The Sun’s Walking On A Dream, the title track of their album (although rumours have begun to surface about a second studio album) is the sort of flamboyant pop with a sense of cheekiness that hits the spot even on the bleakest of days. Check out the music video, a hilarious wandering about Shanghai.

I recently came across a mix of Wiz Khalifa and Empire Of The Sun entitled The Thrill (mp3)
